As decades pass by, they leave behind their souls for the following generations, the 60′s left behind the liberal thought and the hippie’s freedom, the 70′s saw the rise of rock and some kind of funky fashion that’s the decade’s fingerprint ultil today, and what about the 80′s? Older people, like your parents, may remember this decade as the disco age, one of the first things which will pop up on your mind once you remember the 80′s is John Travolta’s Saturday Night Fever is one of the main symbols of the decade.
But for action enthusiasts, this Metallica’s or Disco’s decade, this was Arnold Schwarzennegger’s, Jean Claude Van Damme’s, Sylvester Stallone’s, Steven Seagal’s and Dolph Lundgren’s. You probably recognize some of these names, those guys are action actors and their movies were the thing back in the 80′s.
But time has it’s effect on people, some of these actors lost their fame, their money, and most importantly, their dignity, nowadays, most of their releases are Direct to DVD low budget action movies, but Sylvester Stallone, undoubtedly the most succesful, with franchises like Rambo and Rocky, is leading the production of a new movie, which is going to be one of the highlights for the adrenaline lovers, it’s called The Expendables and it features many famous names, such as Jet Li, Jason Statham, Stallone himself, and some other actors, like Dolph Lundgren, in Stallone’s words, it’s a return to the 80′s roots.
The movie is about a group of mercenaries, they are hired by Mr.Church (Bruce Willis), they are sent to a South American Island to overthrow a cold blooded dictator (David Zayas), the trailer is pure awesomeness, it shows a bunch of action, and it features an impressive cameo of the California governor Arnold Schwarzennegger, we haven’t seen him in years, but Stallone made him come, it’s a tribute to the good ol’ days.
I’m pretty excited for this movie, it looks to be pretty damn good, a bunch of famous actors, a beautiful landscape, lots of guns and action, what’s not to like?
